About this activity
The tour leaves from Marina Piccola, First stop at Marina Grande an old fishing village. An headland (where once stood Augustus grandson villa) separates this village from the rest of the city; you can accede there through an ancient door (third century BC) made of large blocks of limestone. According to the legend, Turkish pirates plundered Sorrento passing through this door left open by a traitor servant during the night. After a few minutes you can admire the "Bagni Regina Giovanna". The name, as for the legend, is for Queen Giovanna d’ Angiò, queen of Naples; it seems that between 1371 and 1435, the Queen often spent her holidays in this place. The queen, was famous for her scandalous behavior; according to some sources she loved to spend a lot of with her young lovers in these waters.
Then you can reach Marina di Puolo, a beach with views of Mount Vesuvius and crystal clear water. In front of Capri island, you can see Massa Lubrense with its unique panorama, then Capo Corbo with its natural waterfall. A dip in crystal clear waters of Sirens Fjord is scheduled after. Lulled by the sea you will be led to a paradise discovery, you can see the citrus fruit of this wonderful land, and if the wind is favorable, even perceive the smell.
Our navigation continues until Punta Campanella, an history and leged territory: according to the Odyssey here Ulysses met the enchanting Sirens. Here Greeks built a temple to Athena goddess, then converted by the Romans to Minerva goddess. In 1300 here was built a watchtower; on its top was placed a bluebell that rung in case of Saracens raids, and sent the alarm signal to other towers positioned along the coast. On Punta Campanella plateau there is a cleft where you can see a staircase that leads up to a cliff linked to caves and ravines above sea level.
