My wife and I were impressed with Ken Hall. We found Ken to be an excellent professional photographer and a true gentleman. We arrived early for our appointment and so did Ken. We had called him earlier to confirm the appointment, he then asked many questions, and customized a session to our exact needs. My primary concern was photographic composition and Ken helped us set up shots on some of the most iconic scenes in Sydney. Along with this he showed us the why and how of each shot and gave additional examples from his own experiences. Later Ken brought us to some of the hard to find or hidden areas that were a rich source of photos and history. Ken did include quite a bit of insightful history as we worked. We worked at our own pace and were encouraged to experiment on our own as much as we liked. I give this tour with Ken Hall one of my highest recommendations. Thank you!
Excellent tutorial and guidance with my camera. We walked the piers, Opera House, and the Rocks. Plenty of opportunities to take great photos!
Ken gave great photography advice and critique on my images my starting point was a good technical ability but I confessed a lack of experience with composition and creativity. To address this Ken provided around a dozen photography challenges to me in different situations to improve my composition each challenge involved difficulties in perspective, depth of field, leading lines, dynamic range, foreground interest, etcetera. A very useful learning experience. The photos I took away after three and a half hour are not touristic shots but indeed I feel I learned quite a bit as a photographer.
This is a marvellous tour for anyone who wants to combine a little exercise with a learning experience. I met guide Ken right on time and we immediately started to talk about photography with tips, principles and key points to remember. I particularly enjoyed learning both about photography and about Sydney history, both topics being of deep interest to Ken. He is easy to talk to, never judged about the level of knowledge I have and welcomed questions. The geographical area covered is not extensive but we saw a lot around Circular Quay and The Rocks. The three hours is jam packed with information. I'm already starting to think about the next tour I'd like to do! You are a marvellous guide and your breadth of knowledge makes the tour so rich with information, it's fabulous.
The photography tour of Sydney's hidden gems with Ken Hall was just what I was looking for. Mr. Hall was an excellent photography teacher with his patience and willingness to share his knowledge of the area and on photography. My queries would jump from topics on photography: camera features, lighting, composition etc., to history and he was always ready with an answer and help. Highly recommend this tour.
