I highly recommend this tour for visitors of all ages. We had a wonderful time learning about Australian animals from our gracious and knowledgable tour guides, Pauline and Di. We had flown in that morning from abroad, and it was quite easy and very scenic to travel to the zoo from Circular Quay via the ferry. From there, we took the bus to the top of the zoo to find the information desk. The tour was more in depth and longer than we were expecting, and the guides' enthusiasm for their work was obvious. The tour was very organized so that we were able to enter some exhibits and see the animals up close, and many of the animals were eating and active at the time we stopped by their enclosures, which was a bonus. Take this tour if you can!
We were booked for a day during a school holiday so it was rather hectic and the instructions on where to go and how to get there were a bit lacking. The ladies at the zoo were great but people should know there is NO petting a koala allowed!! We did enjoy seeing all the animals!!
Nothing better than a private tour. Treated like royalty. We spent more time with the koalas and kangaroos... Recommended 100
Absolutely amazing tour. We were the only 2 people on the tour and we had 2 fabulous tour guides with us so we could ask plenty of questions and got to go in to the koala paddock just us 2 and the tour guides which was amazing to get that close to the koalas and we could take lots of photos. We went behind the scenes and in the kitchens which was really interesting and got to feed the wallaby that was not on display. The tour guide offered to take plenty of photos on our phone so we have many memories of the tour. The tour is 1.5 hours to 2 hours but we were shown around 3 hours and then they walked us over to get an encounter and photo with the owl as were running short of time and they didn't want us to miss it. The 2 tour guides were lovely ladies and told us many amazing things.
This tour was amazing for many reasons: First off, our tour guides Pat and Annette were the best! Their love for the animals/birds was palpable. They provided fascinating information about the creatures we saw. It's the best education one can have. Secondly, we came up close to koalas, kangaroos, wallabys, and other animals/birds. Feeding a wallaby while it rested its paws on my knees was one of those special moments. We were taken to areas closed to the general public in order to get a closer view and sometimes touch the animals. Thirdly, Pat and Annette gave us time to observe and take our photos. They were so patient with us. They did not watch the clock and stayed with us longer than planned. And finally, the zoo itself is beautiful. The scenery from the cable car is spectacular. It flies over the zoo so one can see the animals below, as well as the Sydney skyline and harbor. This is a must for one visiting Sydney.
