About this activity
Start your Taipei City Tour with hotel pickup in Taipei, and settle into luxurious comfort aboard your vehicle.
First of all, you will arrive Marty's Shrine. It was built to honor the fallen Kuomintang soldiers after the Chinese Civil War, and is home to around 390,000 spirit tablets honoring the lives and sacrifices of the KMT soldiers during the war against the communists in mainland China. Secondarily, you will visit Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall, which is a national monument, landmark and tourist attraction erected in memory of Chiang Kai-Shek.
Next, you will be taken to the famous National Palace Museum. During the Chinese Civil War in 1948, Chiang Kai Shek government evacuated the nearly 700,000 pieces of ancient Chinese imperial artefacts and artworks, from the Forbidden City to Taiwan. Majority of the collection is from Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, which provides an in-depth view of the beauty of Chinese history from the Neolithic to the modern era.
You will then visit traditional temple that often use a series of archways, reflecting the spectrum of pure Buddhist to pure Daoist beliefs and groups that exist here.
After visiting traditional temple, you will pass by the Presidential Office Building which was originally built to serve as the Office of the Governor-General of Taiwan during the Japanese colonial period.
Finally, you will transfer to your vehicle for the return drive to your hotel.
