Here's your chance to fly over the crater of New Zealand's most active volcano!
And the scene of the devastating eruption of Mount Tarawera along with viewing Kiwi Orchards as far as the eye can see!
Your tour starts at the Port of Tauranga, where we will be waiting at the port gates. From here we first take you on a sightseeing tour of Mount Manuaganui the area where your ship has docked. Take in the beautiful surroundings, bustling coffee shops, small designer boutiques and white sandy beaches, after a drive through the countryside we board your light aircraft for a flying tour of two of New Zealand's prominent Volcano's! After take off you head out over the coast heading for “White Island Volcano”, during the flight, keep your eyes peeled for sea life such as whales & dolphins, once at White Island soak up the aerial views above the crater.
This continuously active volcano, with sulphur-lipped fumaroles, active volcanic vents, steaming Crater Lake, bubbling mud pools, hot streams & desolate mining ruins combined create a surreal experience.
We head back to coastline & on to Rotorua's lakes district, you fly over Mount Tarawera, this is the scene where the mountain was ripped apart in 1886 by a massive eruption destroying what was said to be the eighth natural wonder of the world the “Pink & white Terraces".
Flying back to the airport you pass over the endless kiwifruit orchards of Te Puke!
Once back on land we make our way to our next attraction, after just a short drive we will arrive at working kiwifruit orchard. Here we take a 45 minute Kiwifruit orchard tour on themed cart ride with full commentary from one of the orchards official guide's. You will learn how the unique combination of climate and soils allows them to grow the world's healthiest fruit - Kiwifruit. Stops along the way gives you the opportunity to see the fuzzy little fruit growing while learning a little knowledge about why this fruit thrives here! Walk under the vines and get up close to the growing fruit. Learn how this wondrous fruit became established here in New Zealand which, surprisingly, it's not a native plant but an interesting story explains all! At the end of your tour you will be invited to taste-test different varieties of this fruit plus jams, juices, and much more.
Also included in the tour, you will be treated to a complementary local homemade kiwi fruit ice cream, perfect for a hot summer day.

- Fly to and land on New Zealand’s only permanently active volcano White Island. Arriving overhead the volcano enjoy aerial views of the active crater before landing on this lunar like surface. Here embark upon a leisurely guided tour of the island's crater floor to view active steam vents 'fumaroles', hot streams, vibrant sulphur formations and the steaming crater. This landscape is constantly changing as the activity forms new features and removes old ones. The Crater Lake changes in depth and temperature so that from one day to the next the landscape is different.
- Part of our tour includes a walk through crumbling mining ruins to view the weathered remains of what was a working factory built in 1923 and abandoned in 1933. Tours on this privately owned volcano are conducted by your pilot / guide whose wealth of knowledge about the island's history and geology enhances the experience.
