Day trip in Kakheti-wine tour

Tbilisi - Kvareli - Bodbe - Sighnaghi - Tbilisi

Depart from Tbilisi towards the Kakheti region of Georgia, the cradle of Georgian wine. Continue to a private winery «Winery Khareba» in Kvareli town. The premises of the winery include beautiful garden and an excursion in a tunnel-museum of traditional Georgian wine making, and facilities for various workshops. Try yourself at baking Georgian bread 'puri', cooking national dessert churchkhela, harvesting and squeezing grapes for wine (subject to seasonality). An excellent round-up of the tour will be tasting different wines produced at Winery Khareba according to Georgian traditional technology of winemaking in qvevri.

Our next destination is Bodbe monastery, a Georgian Orthodox monastic complex and the seat of the Bishops of Bodbe, located 2 km from the town of Sighnaghi. Originally built in the 9th century, it has been significantly remodeled, especially in the 17th century.

After seeing Bodbe, we will drive to Sighnaghi- this is a town in Georgia's easternmost region of Kakheti and the administrative center of the Sighnaghi Municipality. It is one of the country's smallest towns with a population.
