Pass By: The Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi Georgia
It is a pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design that sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river in Georgian capital. It was officially opened in May 2010. The bridge was brought to Georgia from Italy in 200 unassembled components. The bridge is 156 meters long and has more than 10 000 LED bulbs built-in, that are switched on daily 90 minutes before the sunset.
Stop At: Rike Park, The left bank of the Mtkvari River, Tbilisi Georgia
The Rike park is quite easy to find, as its main entrance is right from the beautiful pedestrian ‘Bridge of Peace’. The park is a host to a numerous entertainment facilities like singing and dancing fountains, artificial climbing wall, children’s maze, mega-chess board, as well as footpaths and quiet corners. The start point of a newly opened cable car that takes visitors up to Narikala fortress is located in the Rike park, as well as a number of fancy bars and restaurants.
Duration: 30 minutes
Pass By: Aerial Tramway in Tbilisi, Tbilisi Georgia
Cable Car. Tbilisi's most exhilarating ride – along with the Mtatsminda funicular – is the cable car, new in 2012, which swings from the south end of Rike Park high over the Mtkvari River and Old Town up to Narikala Fortress. To ride it, you need a Metromoney card, available at the ticket offices if you don't have one.
Stop At: Narikala Fortress, Tbilisi Georgia
From outside the fortress entrance, you can follow a path west in front of the walls along the statue of Kartlis Deda (Mother Georgia). As attractive as a 20m aluminium woman can be, this symbol of the city holds a sword in one hand, and a cup of wine in the other. The explanation is really exciting : it shows perfectly the character of Georgian Women, as well as men, warmly welcoming guests and passionately fighting off enemies.
Another important sighting here is the Botanical Garden, which is located at the foothills of the Narikala fortress. It occupies the area of the 161 hectares and possesses a collection of over 4,500 taxonomic groups.
The little chucrch/monastery up in the hills is another interesting sight in Narikala. It's called St. Nicholas Church, and the internal part of the church is decorated with the frescos showing scenes both from the Bible and history of Georgia.
Duration: 45 minutes
Stop At: Tsminda Sameba Cathedral, Elia Hill, Tbilisi Georgia
The Holy Trinity Cathedral of Tbilisi commonly known as Sameba is the main cathedral of the Georgian Orthodox Church located in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
