The oldest church in Tbilisi, dating back to the sixth century. Its design differs from the typical later temples. There are magnificent frescoes inside, some dating back almost 400 years.

Stop At: The Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi Georgia

The newest bridge in Tbilisi, opened in 2010 is made of steel and glass, it is pedestrian so called Peace Bridge. Nowadays one of the controversial symbols of "modern" Tbilisi.

Pass By: Rike Park, The left bank of the Mtkvari River, Tbilisi Georgia

This is the newest public recreation area in Tbilisi, popular with families, especially in summer. It sits on the left bank of Mtkvari river, under the gaze of the Presidential Palace. It is easy to access from the Old City via the glass and steel pedestrian Peace Bridge, or on the other side of the river, by descending the stairs from Avlabari. A newly opened cable car station takes people up to Narikala Fortress. During summer evenings, a music and light show accompanies a choreographed fountain display.

You will climb to the Narikala fortress by Cable Car. Sometime it takes 30 minutes if there are a lot of people for the tickets.

Narikala is an ancient symbol of Tbilisi’s defence. The fortress was established in the 4th century, around the period when the city itself was founded.

Stop At: Tbilisi Mosque, Botanikuri St, T'bilisi, Georgia

Its slender red-brick minaret is easy to spot from a distance. Located at the foot of Narikala fortress in Tbilisi’s oldest district, Abanotubani. The Sunni mosque was built in the nineteenth century and interestingly not only features Islamic motifs but also Gothic.

The Church of Assumption, is a rather unusual example of a domed Georgian Orthodox church on the Metekhi rock on the Mtkvari River bank.
