Nekresi Monastery which has survived in Alazani river valley consists of several cult structures of different times. The earliest one is a small church built in the early 4 th century. It was built soon after the declaration of Christianity the official religion of the country.

St. George monastic and Episcopal complex, situated in Bodbe (Kakheti) is the national Georgian relic. In St. George cathedral are kept the remains of Nino of Cappadocia, Equal-to-the-Apostles, the great Baptist of Georgia, the harbinger of Christianity. The cult complex in Bodbe was repeatedly repaired and restored. In the 16th – 17th centuries Bodbe was the important educational centre. In 1837 the monastery was abolished. And in 1889 the convent of St. Nino Equal-to-the-Apostles was opened and is active until now.

Day 2: Gudauri Kazbegi Tour
Stop At: Jinvali Water Reservoir, 40 km to the North from Tbilisi, Tbilisi Georgia
The Jinvali reservoir is located on the way to the Anauri Fortress, so it’s a bit outside of the city, but for us it was worth the drive for some breathtaking views and great family pictures.

Stop At: Russian Georgian Friendship Monument, Georgian Military Highway, Gudauri 383085 Georgia
The Russia–Georgia Friendship Monument or Treaty of Georgievsk Monument is a monument build in 1983 to celebrate the bicentennial of the Treaty of Georgievsk and ongoing friendship between Georgia and Soviet Russia. Located on the Georgian Military Highway between the ski resort town of Gudauri and the Jvari pass, the monument is a large round stone and concrete structure overlooking the Devil's Valley in the Caucasus mountains. Inside the monument is a large tile mural that spans the whole circumference of the structure and depicts scenes of Georgian and Russian history.

Many years ago, the King of Georgia discovered the sulphur springs in Central Georgia and decided to build a city surrounding them. And so, Tbilisi (warm place) was born. These days the sulphur springs are somewhat of a tourist attraction and many people visit daily for a soak, scrub and traditional massage beneath the domed roofs. If you're a fan of sulfur baths Tbilisi is a great place to get your fix.

Stop At: The Bridge of Peace, Tbilisi Georgia
Relatively newly constructed the Bridge of Peace is definitely the attraction one wouldn’t want to miss in Tbilisi. It is a pedestrian glass and steel bridge in a bow-shaped design that sits over the Mtkvari (Kura) river in Georgian capital. It was officially opened in May 2010. The bridge was brought to Georgia from Italy in 200 unassembled components. The bridge is 156 meters long and has more than 10 000 LED bulbs built-in, that are switched on daily 90 minutes before the sunset.
The pulsating lights are communicating the message in Morse code; the message says chemical elements from the Mendeleev’s periodic table that make up a human body. The idea of the Italian designer Michele De Lucchi was to broadcast the message which is “the anthem of life and piece among people and nations”.
