The guide did started off to a bad start and didn't introduce himself. It was immediately clear he dhad never been to Berat as he had to ask for directions to castle - twice. He even had the gall to ask if we wanted to drive vehicle! He laughed after as though it was a joke, but we didn't think it was funny. When we arrived at the castle, it became obvious he’d never even read up on it so could offer us no information - or directions to the museum, which we found by fluke after asking for directions several times. And then he had the audacity to tell us to tag on to another tour group’s commentary. A simple visit to Wikipedia told us more about Berat than he did. While we understand that things happen and obviously the usual guide wasn’t available - there was no communication and the “guide” tried to pretend he was legitimate until it became patently obvious he was a fraud. Turned out he was wearing the name badge of another person who we assume is actually a guide so this guy was just filling in for a friend. In general, none of the usual etiquette shown by guides was present - even just organization of the day, free time, rest stop breaks. A case of the blind leading the blind and we paid good money for the tour so it was highly disappointing. Book at your own risk.
