This tour was a great introduction to Japanese food, especially seafood. I recommend that you have a light breakfast. Unlike some food tours, you will not go hungry.
Mazda-san was great! Kept us well informed and looked out for the group in terms of train schedules, stations, which tickets to buy, etc. If I had one (small) issue, it would be that it seemed like it took a while for the first tasting, but when that got going, we certainly had plenty of food to eat.
Thank you Toshi-san for a great tour! Tsukiji market is extremely busy but this serves as a very good introduction to both the market and different Japanese foods. Loved the Japanese omelet, the wasabi beans, and especially the exquisite toro sashimi. Was able to return the next day by myself and easily navigate around, and also helped with ordering in restaurants, so would recommend this tour early in your Tokyo visit.
Seeing Tsukiji market is intimidating, and having a guide made it accessible. Our guide was great. She was kind and very knowledgeable. The pace of the tour was perfect for us and our 7 and 10 year olds. We got to see a variety of different foods, and the samples were ample. Definitely go hungry! It's expensive, but once you factor in all the food you get, it's really quite reasonable. Recommended for families with kids, or adult-only groups.
Our tour of the fish market was great. Our guide, Seiko, was wonderful, making sure we got to see highlights and enjoy very special samples along the way. She was so knowledgeable and explained so much about the market. We got to see how some of the special Japanese food was made and got to pick out our own fresh tuna for lunch, We highly recommend this tour.
We had a lovely and amazing tour guide in Yoko! We happened to get lucky that the other people on our tour were unable to make it so we basically scored a private tour with her. She was very helpful in providing a very unique and amazing experience for us both. She took us to some very amazing spots and helped accommodate our requests when we looked for other types of fish that were not included in the itinerary (that we paid for of course but her expertise made it so that we picked the very best items) The sushi spot she took us to was exactly as described and was incredibly delicious! I would highly recommend this tour group, tour and tour guide!!! Will definitely be back Thanks for the memories!!!! Ally and Nick
Our guide was called Skip and he was great. He was knowledgeable, interesting, and ensured we had a fantastic tour. The tastings and final sushi meal were all well chosen. Thumbs up!
Was visiting solo on a business trip and decided to do this last minute, was a really great tour with a knowledgeable guide. Met some great people and glad we were able to get into the market before it moved.
Toshi, not sushi great guide and a big thank you from all members of our family for a very informative and a very enjoyable morning with you, ending at one of the best sushi restaurants we have been to in Japan. Thank you Toshi
The lady we had was amazing! She made sure that we all stayed together and we got to try a lot of interesting foods. Her English was really good too and she was great with my then 4 year old daughter. We got to have little souvenirs here and there and I really appreciated how kind she was. She was even willing to help me exchange some old bills to current yen. Wonderful tour and woman. I recommend however, wearing waterproof boots/shoes in the inner fish market area. Lots of icy water, so you don't want to accidentally step in a puddle and have wet fishy feet.
My tour of the Tsukiji Fish Market was terrific! Our wonderful guide Jun was very knowledgeable, polite, and friendly as she led us through the crowded streets and stalls in the outer, middle, and inner markets. Along the way we sampled rice balls, beans, deep fried fish cakes, omelets, tuna sashimi, and sake. Plus, watched expert chefs at work and saw a wide variety of fish, eels, seaweed, caviar, knives, etc. The tour was well-paced, educational, and great fun. Our moveable feast ended with an excellent lunch at a standing sushi bar. Ill never forget the sounds, smells, and tastes, it was the highlight of my trip to Tokyo. Thanks Jun for making it such an enjoyable experience!
I went on the Tsukiji Fish Market tour with my wife and 11-year-old son. Our tour guide was Naoko. Naoko was very knowledgeable about the market. We were able to sample a variety of different food items. Naoko was easily able to explain what we were eating and provided in depth answers to our questions. She timed our tour so that we got back to an area of the market that provides a show as they cut into a giant tuna! She even made the tour interesting for my son. I must add that Naoko went above and beyond what a regular tour guide would do during our tour. My son ended up getting sick during the tour. Without going into all the details, Naoko took care of my son like he was her own child. She handled the situation perfectly and helped my son feel better. Since my wife and I were strangers in a foreign country, we were overwhelmed with how to handle the situation. Having Naoko with us was a life saver! She knew exactly what to do and where to go. If anyone is considering this tour, I strongly recommend Naoko as your tour guide.
Our guides were knowledgeable, attentive and most of all fun! The sushi we ate at the end of the tour was the best we've ever had! We definitely would book again.
