About this activity
Starting at 9:30 am at your hotel or Airbnb, cruise ship port, or another location of your choosing, your guide will pick you up in a private car and take you on a scenic drive along the Mediterranean coast to the destination of your choice.
If you decide to visit Sagunto on your half day excursion, you guide will take you on a hike to the impressive hill-top of Roman ruins with spectacular panoramic views of the Valencia region below. You will pass by the Roman Circus remains, stroll the quaint medieval streets of a once large Roman city in a bygone past and visit sites important to the Jewish community such as the Jewish quarter and Rabbi´s cemetery.
L’Albufera Lagoon is the largest fresh water reservoir in Spain. Though only about 20 minutes from Valencia, L’Albufera has an entirely different landscape and ecosystem. During this tour, you will explore the lagoon, the rice paddies, and the wild bird park (with over 300 species of birds) by boat. The traditional Spanish lunch, paella, is widely recognized as originating in L’Albufera, and this tour can include a stop in a local, traditional paella restaurant, depending on your preferred tour experience.
With panoramic views of the Mediterranean and rich Moorish and Christian history, El Puig is the perfect half day trip destination from Valencia. Just 15 minutes north of the city, the town is home to a 13th Century Monastery, castle ruins, panoramic Mediterranean views, and the “Northern Gardens of Valencia”, with some of the nicest estates in the area. Depending on your mobility and interest, you guide can take you on a hike to the sites of battle trenches and tunnels built during the Spanish Civil War.
In Castellon province, 45 minutes north of Valencia, your guide will take you on a boat ride along longest subterranean river in Europe that flows through the caves of Sant Josep in the Vall d’Uixo, where you can see the natural cathedrals of Spain: Her caves, beautifully lit up as you journey into the center of the mountain. At this site, you also get to see pre-historic Iberian remains from the 1st Millenia BC and 19th century hermitage.
If you decide to opt for the orange-picking excursion, you guide will take you to family-owned orange groves to pull fresh oranges from the trees and discuss the secrets of the old Moorish citrus trade. With over 30 varieties of oranges throughout the season, from blood oranges to clementine, there is plenty to learn, taste, and enjoy! Please note, this excursion is only available when oranges are in season, from November to May and subject to availability.
At the end of your four-hour tour, your guide will drop you off at a location of your choice. This tour includes your private guide and transportation.
