Itinerary

Stop At: Ganges River, Varanasi India
From the boat you can watch the daily lives of the locals as they practice yoga, pray, worship the river, bathe, drink chai, get a haircut, or do their laundry.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Varanasi Old City Tours, 5/121, Dashaswamedh, Sri Tripura Bhairavi Devi Temple, Varanasi, Chhattisgarh 221001, India
From there, we will go on a walking tour through the labyrinth of alleys in the old town where we have to dodge people, cows, dogs and goats. If you are hungry we can always stop for a breakfast break (at your own expense) and of course, we will drink some chai along the way.
Wandering around in the old town we will see how the local people live. After this, I will bring you back to your hotel so you can take some rest. I know that Varanasi is overwhelming with its colours, fragrances and noise so you might need some time off to contemplate the day so far.
Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes
Stop At: Dasaswamedh Ghat Road Bangali Tola, Varanasi 221001 India
Late afternoon, I will pick you up again to bring you to the Dasaswamedh Ghat. Every evening, when dusk descends, the Ganga Aarti will be performed by pandits (priest). An Aarti is a devotional ritual that uses fire as an offering. The offering is made to the Goddess Ghanga. This whole mind-blowing, spiritual ceremony will last for less than 1 hour. We will participate from the shore, but if you prefer to watch it from the water in a boat I can work it out for you, for an additional fee.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Manikarnika Ghat, Ghasi Tola Road, Varanasi 221001 India
We will finish this beautiful day with a stroll along the Riverside and the ghats. If you are interested, we also have the option to visit Manikarnika Ghat where the open air crematorium is running 24/7.
It is strictly forbidden to take any pictures there, out of respect for the dead., but, it's a very interesting place to see how the Hindus cope with the cycle of life and death which is so different compared to Western world ideas.
Duration: 30 minutes
Stop At: Sarnath Via-Anlabereni, Varanasi 759026 India
Sarnath is a place located 10 km north-east of Varanasi. Often one can see drawings or paintings from The Buddha (Siddharta Gautama) surrounded by deer. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautama Buddha first thaught the dharma to his disciples after he achieved enlightenment.
As well as Bodhgaya, Kushinagar and Lumbini, Sarnath is one of the 4 main pilgrimage destinations. This place attracts Buddhists from all over the world whereBuddhism is a major religion (such as Thailand, Japan, Tibet, Sri Lanka and Myanmar) There are established temples and monasteries in Sarnath in the style that is typical for the respective country.
It's an oasis of peace and tranquillity and a big contrast to the chaos and hectic of the Indian world outside.
If you are interested, we can make a stop half way to have a look at the handmade silk industry, where one make the famous Varanasi silk saree.
