Classical Music Walking Tour in Varanasi

Meet your guide at the PDR Mall Box Office at Luxa Road. From here proceed toward Bengali Tola Road, passing through the ancient winding streets of Varanasi city, along the way observing the local life and business of the city.

It is in and around at Bengali Tola that one can see prominent musical influence in Varanasi, as the streets here are lined with several musical instruments shops (some of them hundreds of years old) and music schools. The music shops here are famous for some of the finest hand-made traditional Indian musical instruments such as sitar, tabla, flute, harmonium and more.

Lastly, you will end your tour at the International Music Centre, a music ashram run by family of musicians, located near Dasashwamedh Ghat, hidden in the winding backstreets off Bengali Tola. It is the oldest music school of Varanasi dating 500 years. Here you can get demonstration in Indian classical music and learn about the traditional musical instruments. The ashram or center also hosts classical music concerts / performances by noted artists, twice every week all year round, which is a magnet for classical music lovers around the world.
