Combined ticket to Lace and Glass Museums
The Murano Glass Museum was born as a veritable archive of the history of the island and of glassmaking in 1861, thanks to the then mayor Antonio Colleoni and the abbot Vincenzo Zanetti. Thanks also to numerous donations, especially from the Murano furnaces, the archive soon turned into a museum and subsequently the annexation of Murano to the City of Venice in 1923. This collection was further enriched by the precious Renaissance pieces and numerous ancient glass works coming from archaeological excavations.
The Lace Museum, established in 1981, is located in the historic School of Lace in Burano. This museum offers an extraordinary journey through the tradition of centuries-old craftsmanship rich in culture, art and popular wisdom. Particular importance is given to the phases of conception and design techniques, between tradition and modernity.
