Once one of 7 major theatres in the city, today the Fenice is Venice’s one and only opera house. It is surely a jewel among European theatres, and began to shine from the beginning, as the best composers of the age wrote and performed their operas here, among which Bellini, Donizetti and Rossini. But it was Giuseppe Verdi who is most attached to the Fenice and to Venetian memory.
Pass By: Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Just East Accademia Along Gran Canal, 30123 Venice Italy
Peggy Guggenheim Collection, one of the most important art collections in the world. Peggy Guggenheim, originally from New York, arrived in Venice in 1949 and began to satisfy art addiction buying this wonderful building where she displayed invaluable artworks to the world. The beautiful terrace you see is where Guggenheim sun-bathed regularly looking onto the Grand Canal.
Pass By: Piazza San Marco, 31024 Venice Italy
At the end you will enjoy a wonderful overview of Saint Mark’s Square with the Doge’s Palace which certainly takes center stage and the marvelous Golden Basilica with its bell-tower. This is a spot which painters from all over the world have tried to capture in its uniqueness, but we can only recommend that you sit back and take it all in.

The glassblowing demonstration was a little disappointing. It seemed quite rushed and then we were taken straight into the shop where they demonstrated what was for sale. It would have been nicer to have more of an explanation about Murano glass and not just a sales pitch. The gondola ride was a bit short but nice. Overall, not worth saving the money on a single gondola ride by combining these two things. Best just to pay a little bit more for an extended gondola ride by itself. London April 2018
The glass blowing demo was too short and the selling of the glass seemed to take precedent. If you want to see glass blowing go to Murano island because you can buy the glass there too.
