About this activity
Begin your evening with dinner at the Restaurant Johann inside the beautiful Kursalon Vienna concert hall. Sit down to a gourmet 4-course dinner of seasonal Viennese dishes amid the exquisite surroundings of one of Vienna’s most famous and historic concert venues. (See Sample Menu below.)
It was here that the waltz was popularized in the 19th century thanks to Viennese composer Johann Strauss. Performing dances and concerts regularly, the venue soon became a popular meeting place for Viennese society to enjoy music and savor the joie de vivre. Still preserving its historical roots, the Kursalon now has a modern flair, with four spectacular ballrooms on two floors and a spacious terrace with views over Stadtpark.
After dinner, you’ll be escorted to your seat in Lanner Hall for the Salonorchester Alt Wien concert, one of today’s best-known interpreters of classical Viennese music. Savor the lilting sound of waltzes, polkas, arias and duets, as well as operetta and piano concerto melodies accompanied by opera vocalists and ballet soloists.
Revel in the performances of Strauss’ ‘Voices of Spring,’ ‘Roses from the South, ‘The Sigh Galop,’ ‘A Little Night Music’ and ‘On the Beautiful Blue Danube,' and Mozart’s ‘Rondo alla Turca’ and the overture to the opera Le Nozze di Figaro. Be enchanted by Strauss' 'My Lord Marquis' from The Bat operetta and 'Entree Zsupan' from The Gypsy Baron operetta, as well as Johann Schrammel’s ‘Vienna remains Vienna' and many more pieces from Viennese musicians throughout the centuries.
If you've booked the first two rows with your VIP ticket, enjoy a glass of sparkling wine during the interval, and take home a Johann Strauss CD with your Kursalon Orchestra program.

Whether you are a classical music lover or not, you won't be disappointed with their performance. Whenever people asked me which part of the trip I missed the most, Kursalon concert would be my answer. It's just about right, not as heavy as formal symphonic concert, but more than beautiful to lighten up the spirit in Vienna so that it's a splendid moment for life.
I absolutely recommend this concert! It was one of the highlights of our trip to Vienna and we did it on our last night to do something special. We were very happy with the A level tickets. We were 2nd row seats and really it was like first row because there was no one in the VIP seats in front of us. The musicians were top quality and we enjoyed the opera singers and the ballet dancers as well. They added something wonderful to the show. The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the check-in process was tedious and the dinner wasn't that great. The ticket from viator says to meet in the restaurant at 6pm. When we did, they said at the restaurant that we actually had to present our voucher at the box office and exchange it for tickets and a dinner voucher. The office is there in the building, but the line was 20 people long. So that was a pain in the butt and we were late for dinner. The dinner itself wasn't that great and the service wasn't great. They have prix-fixe menus, but they were different than the ones that Viator had posted on the site, so it wasn't what I was expecting. Also, some of the vegetarian options looked good, even though I'm a not a vegetarian, but they told us we couldn't have things from different "tracks." We had to stick with one or the other. Why not just make a menu and put the two meat options and one veg option under each track so there are 3 options to choose from for each course? There were some courses that I didn't really like, so I would have preferred the veg option for one or two of them. It was worth it for the concert!
The concert was really good, the dinner could be better. Its a really nice place. It was an amazing night. The food was average, and also the service at the diner, but the concert was really good. Its a good mix of Strauss and Mozart works, very well balanced and the musicians were good. During the intermission you can go to a balcony and have some sparkling wine, or simply enjoy the view of the city. There was something special in the Danube, and I know, everybody does it, but I really enjoyed it. You dont need to worry very much about dressing up, because everybody was dressed differently. No need for fancy dresses there were a few but also there was people wearing snickers. I was in such a good mood that I ended the night with a walk back to the hotel even if I was wearing high heels. Id recommend that concert for anyone.
The concert was wonderful but the dinner was excruciatingly slow. 4 courses spread out over more than an hour. Don't even bother arriving early for it.
Concert was great. Dinner was average. Would recommend just doing the concert.
Overall an interesting evening with the Concert part excellent. The meal was a little disappointing in parts. We really enjoyed the variety achieved during the concert there was a lightness in both the performance and the links.
