About this activity
Your private tour will start with a pick-up from your hotel/accommodation in Vienna at the pre-arranged time. Sit back in luxury vehicle and admire scenery of the West of Austria. Our first visit will be Benedictine abbey, above the town of Melk. Benedictine abbey is on a rocky outcrop and overlooking the Danube river. The abbey contains remains of several members of the House of Babenberg, Austria's first ruling dynastyand the tomb of Saint Coloman of Stockerau. We will take you to the top of Abbey, from where you will have breathtaking view of town Melk.
After Benedictine abbey, we continue or ride into the Lake of District and pass through the picturesque towns like Bad Ischl. We stop at the beautiful Hallstatt village, Austria’s oldest and possibly most photographed village, famous for its salt production. Discover a subterranean salt lake and the mummy of a prehistoric miner - preserved in salt. Hallstatt is such a unique place that even the Chinese have created a copy of the ancient salt mine village.
Our final stop will be Salzburg, Mozart’s birth place and town of music. Feel the atmosphere of Mozart's hometown while visiting Salzburg’s top sights such as UNESCO protected Old Town, Fortress as well as “The Sound of Music” filming locations.
In the afternoon drive back to your hotel/accommodation in Vienna.

We got a private car and our driver/guide Kris was excellent. He was knowledgable and courtues. My recommendation is to take this tour if you want to get an overview of what to do at these locations. Melk abby is on the way to Salzburg we stopped for 45 mins, if you are a real history buff I would recommend coming back on your own and spending half a day, as there is the museum and gardens to see, which cost additional. For Salzburg, I know for my self I would need a whole day as there is so much to do and see. But since we were in Vienna for a short time, this was great. Hallstatt also depends on how much you want to stay and what you want to do. Next time I am in town I would go to Salzburg spend a day there and the next day go to Hallstatt as I would like to see the salt mines and spend more time in the town. The thing is the driver on the way to Hallstatt took us through the alpine route which is very beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to get a good overall view of these towns.
Skip Salzburg, it was a disappointment. It is unclean and the buildings are not as well kept as Vienna. The Monastery in Melk was okay, however take the path into the little village which is way more interesting and you can view the monastery from the outside. Spend more time in Hallstatt, it is stunning, one of the most beautiful spots on earth. More time there would have allowed us to do more in this most beautiful area. Our driver was great, prompt, safe and courteous. Skip Salzburg, a waste of time,
Luka was very informative Great knowledge of the places we visited . We did not feel rushed at all . He allowed us plenty of time in each place and was very accommodating to our requests . We were a family of 8 and all had a great time .Hallstatt was our favorite place to visit definitely spend at least 2 hours there , Salzburg also worth spending 2-3 hours there .start early , we started at 8 , it’s a long day for these tour guides , the earlier you start the better . Happy birthday next week Luka Nela,Jorge and the crew
great scenery especially halstatt , Salzburg also very nice and tranquillity all around despite many visitors, melk in march just a 30 min stop enough. punctual and well informed driver. recommended
What an amazing day! We left our hotel in Vienna at 8:30 am and went west to Melk, Salzburg and Hallstatt. Our guide not only drove us in comfort, but pointed out interesting things along the way and gave us tips on how best to see the sites when we arrived. In Melk we arrived during the mass on the Feast of Corpus Christi and were able to see the children and adults dressed in traditional Austrian costumes. In Salzburg, he showed us around the town and then left us to explore for about three hours. Finally, we drove through the hills and past mountain lakes towards Hallstatt where we enjoyed a brief walkabout before deciding to leave prior to a huge thunderstorm arriving. I was so glad not to have to drive back along the mountain roads and on the highway during the hail! In planning our vacation we weren't sure we'd have the time to see this part of Austria. Booking this tour allowed us to see this beautiful part of the world without the stress of driving, parking, and figuring out where to go and what to see. We got it all in one day - without having to drive ourselves around - and we were back in Vienna in time for dinner at a nearby beer joint! Well worth the cost - which wasn't much more than a group tour in the same area. Way to go Viator!
wonderful experience, our driver was very professional and considerate
