Take a beautiful drive north from Vientiane to reach the vast Nam Ngum Reservoir, surrounded by various traditional forms of agriculture in a tranquil setting. Nam Ngum Lake is located some 80 kilometres to the north of Vientiane. The beautiful scenery over the Nam Ngum River and its green valley is enhanced by the presence of this vast, spectacular lake. Included in the program are a visit to Vangxang, an 11th century Buddhist archeological site, and a stop at the Zoo at Ban Keun.
Your guided day trip includes a 1-hour boat ride on Nam Ngum Lake and a Laotian lunch. This full-day exploration covers the northern countryside and the mountainous region of the Vientiane Plain, were rice fields, archaeological sites and salt-winning industries dominate the landscape.
