About this activity
With over 30 districts covering greater Yangon, each with its own characteristics, the gains name and fame for offering everything under the sun for even the most discerned adventurer. Emerging as a region for a slightly more active side, the Inya Lake region has long dominated as one of the key regions for a relaxing moment, away from bustling, downtown Yangon. It is this region that suits the demand for pedalling in peace and at a leisurely pace through some of the city’s most desirable areas without the growing flow of traffic on your tail. This bike ride encompasses everything without skipping some of the Burmese essentials one is after. A couple of hours on a pedalling saddle with us, and we assure you that your memories will last a lifetime.
A short transfer from your accommodation to the starting point of your bike ride marks the beginning of a leisurely morning or afternoon around Inya Lake. The tour commences from a central starting point, where your guide will set your bikes at the appropriate height and make adjustments for an as comfortable tour as possible. Setting out to guide you through roads and streets to find the local experience, your English-speaking trail leader commences this journey along Inya Myaing Road, one of the centres of the more affluent Burmese. Passing kindergartens, an international meditation centre and admiring local life, the tempo is recreational from beginning until the end. One of the main buildings, dominating the skyline here is the University of Foreign Languages, situated along the road, bearing almost the same name (University Avenue Road). En route, your guide will tell all interesting facts about this centre of education, known for being one of the country’s more prestigious institutions. Inya Lake approaches and the sight of the calm water surface oozes in relaxation, as we pedal further down Inya Road. It is time for a longer break with some refreshments before we move on. The restaurant has been chosen because of its scenic location along the lake banks of the lake.
Heading further on our quest in finding the local side of Yangon by bike, we avoid main roads towards another educational institution of great importance, the Yangon University, the oldest and most famous one in Myanmar. Taking some snapshots here is of course included. The time has come to head back to the starting point, thank your guide for this leisurely insight in an lesser-known part of Yangon and head back from here to your hotel.
