Stop At: Kyi Myin Daing Station Overpass, Yangon, Myanmar (Burma)
Pick up from your hotel in Yangon by your English speaking guide marks the start of 4 hours navigating through alleys and seeing the authentic side of Yangon. Our tour starts with heading to the central railway station, where we board a local commuter train, better known as the Circular Train. For 30 minutes, you are on board a British built train line with small stations along its route from where vendors carrying huge bundles of goods climb aboard to reach market towns further along the line, giving you that true taste of life in Yangon. The experience ends at Kyi Myin Daing Station where your journey into the hospitable side of the city continues. Local roadside markets are the driving force behind the local economy and particularly, tea shops are the source of information (and gossip) for Burmese to catch up on the latest and share their opinion about every day topics. Wandering around these hardly-visited areas by foreigners affirms our off-the-beaten track definition.
Don’t expect anything commercial – this is the real face of Yangon and one of the stop en route before heading back to your hotel is seeing a traditional bronze atelier. Craftsmanship of an exemplary level is on display here, using generation-long cherished traditions of moulding and shaping this precious metal. A half day of authenticity comes regretfully to an end as we meet up with our driver and head back to your accommodation.
