About this activity
Our professional English speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel lobby around 9am and head to The National Museum, a best place to learn history of Myanmar.
The displays in the museum are split into two basic themes: culture and historic periods. You will find the displays spectacular and covering a wide range of objects like jewelry, paintings, sculpture, crafts, clothing, antiques and especially the Lion Throne of King Thibaw Mandalay Palace. The throne is about 26 feet (8 meters) high, inlaid with gold and lacquer work. These will give you a feeling of the richness and diversity of the culture and of the wealth that existed here in the past.
After the walking tour in the museum, we will take you to enjoy a delicious lunch at local restaurant with Burmese cuisine, to get some different taste.
We will continue our tour to River Art Gallery, located inside The Strand Hotel, which aims to bring Myanmar art to a wider audience. River Gallery showcases the city’s widest range of contemporary art, representing more than 30 artists at any given time. We then proceed to Lawkanat Art Gallery, a non-profit gallery that features a small collection of traditional works as well as rotating exhibits of current Burmese artists.
To conclude our tour of the day, we will visit to a local handicrafts and souvenirs shop where many local products are made from teak, stone and cotton. Our driver will transfer you back to your hotel safely.
