Yellowstone Winter Wolf & Wildlife Day Tour
An early start (6 AM) allows you to enjoy the park’s quietest hours, a Yellowstone sunrise and the best time to see wildlife, especially some of the more elusive animals like bears, wolves, moose, etc. Your guide will pick you up in a comfortable full-sized touring SUV (or larger touring van depending on your group size) in front of your local accommodations in Gardiner, MT, Mammoth Hot Springs, Canyon Village or at a convenient predetermined meeting location within the park. All Yellowstone Wild tours are private, and you will have the full care and attention of your guide. Only your party will attend this tour.
Your guide will update you first thing in the morning about current wildlife activity and possible viewing options. The wild animals here are not controlled in any way, and can be difficult to find. However, our intimate knowledge of the wildlife here and how the animals use the park's habitats will offer you the best chance at seeing the wildlife you hope to see.
We want your experience to be the best, and we take great pride in getting to the best wildlife viewing locations possible. Wildlife trips are heavily road-based, and sometimes wildlife sightings can be somewhat crowded. Our guides make a serious effort to get away from the crowds and slip into the wilds of Yellowstone to show you the wildlife in the most intimate and personal manner. Sometimes that may require a hike (often off-trail) to a ridgetop or through a forest to the meadow on the far side to gain a spectacular view.
Yellowstone Wild is always sure to watch wildlife from a safe and respectful distance where a human presence does not bother or threaten the animals, and therefore you can casually enjoy observing their natural behaviors, uninfluenced by humans and, of course, where you will be totally safe. That is why we provide you with the very best optics available-including crystal-clear high-powered binoculars and Swarovski spotting scopes - to fully enjoy our sightings at a safe distance and without disturbing wildlife.
Your guide will prepare hot drinks and breakfast snacks while you enjoy the early morning light and animal activity. Sometime mid-morning, you will stop again for more drinks and an assortment of hearty health breakfast and snack items to help keep children and adults alike going strong throughout the day. A hike towards midday is an option if you would like to get off the beaten path and stretch your legs; you can discuss those options with your guide.
You can expect the trip to run 6-8 hours, so that we will be finishing up in the mid-afternoon, just in time for a proper siesta after our early morning start. Tour duration can vary depending on many factors, including but not limited to, the wants and needs of our guests, weather, and road conditions. Regardless, Yellowstone Wild's guides are always there to make your experience the most memorable, safe and comfortable as they can!
