Stop At: Pilana Bliznec, Bliznec 68, 10000, Zagreb, Croatia

The sawmill was built in 1898 but it was defunct during the Second World War. The sawmill used to produce wheelbarrows. In 1992 it was reconstructed by “Šumarija Zagreb” and turned into small exhibition area with old timber processing machines. An old mill wheel, which used to power the sawmill before a more efficient turbine was installed, is attached to the façade of the building.

The Leustek path is the easiest way to hike up to the peak because it is the least steep path. It is 6,4 km long. After the path ends, you only have a short, but steep incline to the top.

It is built of wood and stone in the alpine style and today is one of the most beautiful mountain huts in Croatia. The ground floor has a small dining room and kitchen and upstairs are bedrooms. Now it is a restaurant and we can go eat or drink something during the tour.

Medvedgrad castle provides beautiful views of Zagreb and its surroundings. An impregnable Zagreb castle, situated on the plains of Medvednica Mountain overlooking Zagreb for 800 years. Medvedgrad is a medieval castle located on the slopes of Medvednica Mountain (Bear Mountain).Parts of Medvedgrad castle have been reconstructed, along with it the octagonal chapel of St. Philip and Jacob, the south defensive tower. At the present time, historical festivals and knight tournaments take place in the castle.
Its eternal flame honour Croatian heroes killed in the Croatian War of Independence. Homeland Altar was made by sculptor Kuzma Kovačić and it is situated under the southern Medvedgrad tower.
