
Full-day wine excursion and Goya museum tour from Zaragoza
Take a journey to the Zaragoza countryside on this full-day wine tasting and cultural tour, with lunch included. Discover the stunning terroir of Cariñena, a Spanish Denomination of Origin (DO) and one of the oldest protected growing areas in Europe. This interactive tour will take you beyond the confines of the city to experience the source of two of Zaragoza's most famous products: impeccable red wines and the artist Goya.
After pick-up at your accommodation in Zaragoza, you will visit a traditional, family-run bodega (winery) and meet the talented winemaker for a tour of the grounds. You will explore the neatly planted vineyard and learn about the different varietals planted in the region. Along the way, you'll learn about the wine making history of the region and why exports having quadrupled since 1995. Next visit the cellar, where dusty oak barrels slowly age youthful fermented grape juice into deep, well-rounded Carignan wine (locally referred to as Mazuelo). Swirl, sniff, swirl and sip away!
Following the winery tour, you will visit the birth house of famous Spanish painter Fransisco de Goya. You'll also explore the engraving museum, which displays the graphic work of Goya in permanent collection from his series "Los Desastres," "Los Caprichos," "Los Disparates," and "La Tauromaquia. Before heading back home, you'll enjoy a leisurely lunch of Spanish classics in a restaurant in the region.
