Meet your guide at Paradeplatz, one of the main squares in Zurich, to begin your afternoon walking tour of the sweet side of Zurich. Learn about the rich history of Swiss chocolate and how chocolate is made from your knowledgeable guide, a food writer and chocolate connoisseur.
Your guide will escort you to artisanal shops in Old Town (Altstadt) where you’ll chat with owners who are eager to share their passion for chocolate. Learn about cacao (the bean from which chocolate is made) origins and percentages and become a tasting expert. Ask anything you ever wanted to know about chocolate and sweets -- being on a small-group tour makes for a casual, friendly experience.
Stop by Zurich’s oldest confectionery and enjoy a cup of specially churned hot chocolate. Choose from a variety of nougats, pralines and truffles for tastings at other shops along your way. Indulge in unique flavors and try single-origin chocolates, which are made from cacao beans from a single harvest. Savor pastries, cupcakes and homemade ice cream. This was a Wonderful Tour with a guide who was extremely passionate about her city! The food samples were plentiful and so yummy as well. Quite a good mixture of samples . Would highly recommend this tour as long as you were able to walk with ease.
Sue was a wonderful tour guide. She was knowledgeable and helpful. Lots of sweets and fun. Really got a feel for the city.
The tour (and our guide) was outstanding. We covered both large and small shops. We interacted with the personnel in each shop and enjoyed just the right amount of samples. Our guide was outstanding. She had done her homework and had the answers to all of our questions. I highly recommend the tour.
Lexie was great, but would like a little bit more interesting facts/history of Zurich. We also had cupcakes instead of ice cream, and would have preferred the ice cream. Cupcakes had a butter cream frosting, which needs to be eaten at room temperature rather than cold. All three chocolatiers were fabulous. Loved the macarons, chocolates and the hot chocolate was wonderful!
